Root-Sound-Body

Free workshop: Imagining the radical through dance and music
Root-sound-body is a workshop curated by flamenco scholars and guitarists Pedro Ordóñez and Carlos van Tongeren about the relation between music, bodies, and radical imaginaries.
Roots are usually what we refer to when we speak about identities, territories, and connections; but the word is also related, etymologically and conceptually, to the radical. How can we imagine new, radical and disruptive forms of belonging and being together through sound and embodiment?
Using examples from contemporary flamenco performance, including dance and guitar playing, in this workshop we will explore the role of sound, dance, and instrumental practices in shaping understandings of identity and rootedness; but also, in our current globalised context, of uprootedness.
The workshop is in English and open to anyone interested in music, dance, and their connections with the contemporary world.
