Alfonso Losa & Paula Comitre
Alter Ego

Hypnotizing duet
Two star dancers who are firmly grounded in the flamenco tradition encounter each other in a hypnotizing duet, delivering enchanting new forms of flamenco.
Surrounded by an international cast of top musicians they observe and challenge each other in an open, free flamenco space. Phenomenally virtuosic, they move beyond their limits and even their bodies in a lively shadow play. Vibrating to dazzling rhythms, they search for themselves in the other person. In the reflection of the other’s body, they find their alter ego.
In his latest performance, dancer/choreographer Alfonso Losa pairs the strict elegance that characterizes the Madrid school of flamenco to the Sevillian grace of rising star Paula Comitre. With her refined geometric movements she perfectly complements Losa’s much acclaimed dance figures.
‘Emotional and gripping,’ Spanish critics concluded, ‘a performance full of stunning moments, that leaves the audience breathless.’

'You were once wild here. Don’t let them tame you.' — Isadora Duncan
Just as flamenco dance evolved from its original wildness to become an elegant stage dance, Alter Ego contrasts the unrestrained dance of Alfonso Losa with the stylish body language of Paula Comitre. Alter Ego is the best example for the evolution of flamenco into a contemporary art form at the highest level. Without losing their personality the two protagonists free themselves from the tight corset of classical dance and create a poetic space of freedom in which time blurs.
