Sara Jiménez
Ave de Plata

Haunting dance solo at the intersection of flamenco and dance theatre
At the intersection of flamenco and contemporary dance theatre, Sara Jiménez takes flight with the Ave de Plata (silver bird), a haunting solo dance to a thrilling soundscape by Spanish sound artist Miguel Marín ‘Árbol’.
The hunter who shoots a bird realizes immediately who has become the prey: this old myth, in which life and death dance around each other, is at the heart of Ave de Plata. Directed by Juan Kruz Díaz, Sara Jiménez (Granada,1989) projects her body in an exuberant way in this philosophical reflection on the duality of life. In order to be reborn, we must accept the ending of something within ourselves. Death as rebirth: this is Ave de Plata, a last dance and a first dance. Melancholic and subdued, but also fierce and joyful, like life itself.
