Volkshotel, Huis Marseille Museum voor Fotografie and Flamenco Biënnale NL present Flamenco On Sunday: an afternoon with music, dance and photography.
Deze zondag in het Volkshotel staat volledig in het teken van dans, fotografie en muziek. De middag start met een introductie op de fototentoonstelling Dancing Light door curator en directeur van Huis Marseille Nanda van den Berg. Vervolgens geeft kunstenares Martine Stig een lezing over haar werk in deze expositie. Stig studeerde aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Den Haag. Haar werk is momenteel ook te zien bij On The Move in het Stedelijk Museum. In het Volkshotel kan gedineerd worden. Ook vindt er een Flamenco Proeven plaats. De avond sluit af met een swingend optreden en jamsessie van het BvR Flamenco-jazz 6tet

16.00-17.00 Introduction by Nanda van den Berg and an artist talk by artist Martine Stig.
Nanda van der Berg ((museum director Huis Marseille and curator of Dancing Light) will give a short introduction about the realisation of ‘Dancing Light / let it move you…’, now on show at Huis Marseille. The work of visual artist Martine Stig is exhibit at ‘Dancing Light’ and is currently also part of ’On The Move’ at Stedelijk Museum. She invites visitors to think about our image culture and about how experiences influence our perception of reality. During the talk she will comment on her work and her way of creating.

17.30 - 20.00 A Taste of Flamenco
An exciting new concept in which we invite you for a special flamenco meal for a taste of flamenco music and cuisine. While enjoying a drink and a bite to eat, professional musicians will teach you the basic ingredients of flamenco: (handclapping), jaleos (cheering), nudillos (drumming rhythms on a table top) and of course a little cante (singing). This is the way to 'taste' flamenco like you would in Andalusia.

20.00-21.30 Jam session BvR Flamenco-jazz 6tet
An explosive performance by saxofonist Bernard van Rossum and his Flamenco 6tet. In his compositions he connects jazz to Flamenco what results in colorful orchestrations and a dynamic sound.
