María Marín
Las Tres Marías – feat. Leonor Leal
Rapidly rising star in the flamenco firmament
Flamenco’s classic trinity comprises vocals, guitar and dance. In her latest solo project ‘Las Tres Marías’, María Marín, a rapidly rising star in the flamenco firmament, creates an original fusion of classical, flamenco and jazz, while accompanying herself on the guitar.
Her style is an amalgamation of classical Spanish guitar music and flamenco, and her lyrics resonate with the echo of Federico García Lorca. At the same time, Marín opens the door to jazz influences and to innovative dance, here performed by Leonor Leal. With her contrary creations and contemporary movement language, she challenges traditions and mines exciting new dance terrain. And all this in an intimate interplay with the sounds of saxophonist Juan M. Jiménez. A world premiere!
María Marín, born and raised in the Andalucian singing bastion of Utrera, discovered her passion for flamenco in the Netherlands after studying classical guitar at the conservatories of Seville and The Hague. Her exceptional musical talent has led to collaborations with celebrated dance makers such as Manuel Liñán, Vanesa Aibar, Úrsula López, pioneer Israel Galván, and now also Leonor Leal.
