Ismael de la Rosa & Yerai Cortés
Flamenco soul: recital as part of the ‘Flamenco in the 21st century’ programme
Two promising young artists, guitarist Yeraí Cortés (regular accompanist to big international stars including Rocío Molina and Farruquito) and the talented young singer Ismael de la Rosa ‘Bolita’, convey the soul of the old ‘gitano’ songs and make it plain why they are the stars of the future.
The deep vocals of el cante jondo is music in its pure state, in constant genesis. It is created in the moment. Its time is ‘kairos’, the here and now (Kairos, the Greek God of opportunity.) The young singer Ismael de la Rosa succeeds in making the raw flamenco art both contemporary and timeless, along with the promising guitarist Yeraí Cortés.
This up-and-coming flamenco duo is making waves in Spain and are the rising stars of the moment. They present impassioned, refreshing interpretations of the classic flamenco repertoire from their CD Flamenco Directo. And doubtless many moments of inspiration during their debut in the Netherlands.
