Raquel Kurpershoek Trio
Nizami
A terrace concert with the setting sun.
Nizami is the latest project and debut album of singer Raquel Kurpershoek. It is based on the love stories from the book The seven wise princesses by the medieval Persian poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi (1140 -1202). During this summer concert, Raquel tells them in different musical styles, in an intimate dialogue with flamenco guitarist Alejandro Hurtado and percussionist Danny Rombout.
With their own compositions, the trio transports the listener to other worlds of ‘dates and jasmine’. The album was awarded three prizes at the World Music Festival Andrea Parodi 2022 in Italy: the Best Music Award, International Jury Award and Bianca D’Aponte Award.
Raquel Kurpershoek made her debut at the Flamenco Biennale during the online edition in 2021 in ‘Traslasierra’, the short documentary which she directed about how deaf and hearing-impaired people can feel (flamenco) music.
